The Cannes Country Club was born under the impulse of illustrious founding members such as the Aga Khan, Prince Pierre de Monaco and the Baron Edouard de Rothschild. Dubbed ”Mougins the sweetness”, the Cannes Country Club, until the war, ties itself favors of international high society. Strongly influenced by the Second World War, requisitioned by the German army, the course shows a pitiful spectacle at the Liberation, despite all the efforts of Mr Marino Vagliano to keep it in good shape. In 1948, François André, emperor of the casinos of Deauville, La Baule and Cannes bought it for a symbolic franc and restores its former prestige. The Cannes Country Club enjoyed a new period of splendor.

At the end of the 70’s, a makeover is needed. The creation of a company appears to be the best solution. Thereby is born in 1977 The Cannes-Mougins Golf Country Club, society of 500 shareholders of any nationality, and in 1978 architects Peter Allis and Dave Thomas deliver a completely redesigned and rejuvenated course. In the 80’s, it is the only private golf on the French Riviera !

The current club-house has been integrated into these picturesque buildings. Especially, at the reception, wooden presses dated from 1836, remind us of the original character of the building.
Modern locker rooms have been installed within these walls, providing all the comfort and luxury that is expected of such a prestigious club. Large and luxurious, the club-house is very cozy and the large bay windows of the restaurant provide a beautiful view of the fairways of hole n°1 and hole n°18 with the Alpes in the background. A terrace adjacent to the putting green completes the layout of the restaurant.

From 1980 to 2001, the Club hosted the European Open of Cannes. Great names such as Severiano Ballesteros, Ian Woosnam, Jean Garaïalde are written on the board.
The PGA Senior Tour also was played at Mougins in 2010 and 2011.
